rasgeo: rasdaman as Geo RasterServer
According to Dr. Xavier Lopez, Director Spatial Databases with Oracle, 2D and 3D databases represent a core innovation in geo databases over the next years (GITA, 2003).
With rasdaman this innovation is readily available by today, offering a series of key benefits:
- all rastertypes, seamlessly: greyscale and color ortho photos, thematic raster maps with any number of layers, Digital Elevantion Models / Lidar, Radar, multi/hyperspectral satellite images, self-defined rater types, ...
- a broad range of GIS services directly from the server: zoom, pan, coloring, overlaying; additionally, an open-ended palette of queries like area computation, statistics, and derived data (such as vegetation index)
- instantaneous export of high volume raster maps - single image or freely mosaicked, colored and overlaid, in a multitude of formats
- completely dynamic retrieval - everything is derived from a single central data asset; this avoids redundant storage and the associated storage space and consistency problems
- selectable data formats and compression: uncompressed (maximum performance), lossless compression (delivers exact information, often achieves substantial storage savings), or lossy compression (maxmimum storage savings while visual presentation remains fine); a dozen of storage formats is available, some of them specially designed wavelet techniques
- all data reside in the database, with optimal security and availability
- Web access via rasgeo navigator (shipped with rasdaman) or a client of your choice - based on rasdaman's
OGC WMS interface a large, steadily growing
list of compatible tools
