In the raster area mainly two interfaces are of importance:
|
Web Map Service (WMS) Interface Specification.
It describes how to query and deliver maps (simple or composed) as raster images, in particular for preview and navigation.
The rasdaman component rasOGC gives access to rasdaman maps according to OGC WMS specification 1.1.0. |
|
Web Coverage Service (WCS) Interface Specification.
Here access to 2D and 3D "coverages" is specified. The special case "Grid Coverages" addresses raster data.
WCS currently is in an advanced state and will probably be stable soon.
Already in advance a large rasdaman database with a WCS interface has been set up by DLR. With this service, which has been officially demoed in 2002 during an "Interoperability Testbed Demonstration", rasdaman actively contributes to the development of the geo standards. |
Through the personal engagment of Dr. Peter Baumann his many years of experience in raster servers become available to OGC.
