This is possible due to a highly parallel server architecture which allows any number of server processes accessing the same or - configurably - different databases. These databases can reside on the same machine as rasdaman or elsewhere in the networks. In any case, however, the application "sees" only one service entry point.

But not only computing server power scales, so does storage volume too. For applications where current disk technology for Terabyte databases isn't enough tape archives can be integrated. Extreme database sizes, into the Petabyte area, can be managed this way.
