Right-Sizing with rasdaman

For every task rasdaman has the matching licence model - from a department server to the 24x7 server farm:

• Cost-effective single-process server for user within a department or services for other departments
• Attractive parallel server for larger user groups, such as in eCommerce applications with regular traffic
• High-availability, high-scalability server using hardware and software redundancy for optimal response times even in face of extreme user numbers

This is possible due to a highly parallel server architecture which allows any number of server processes accessing the same or - configurably - different databases. These databases can reside on the same machine as rasdaman or elsewhere in the networks. In any case, however, the application "sees" only one service entry point.

Extending a configuration can be done during operation.

But not only computing server power scales, so does storage volume too. For applications where current disk technology isn't enough tape archives can be integrated. Extreme database sizes, into the Petabyte area, can be managed this way.
